Hack Away or not?

Imagine, you have an infant son and now you've got a serious question you have to deal with.

Circumcision or not?

On the one hand, you know that it'll protect him from a number of diseases and cancers. So that's a good thing.

On the other, you know that it will lead to a decreased sensitivity of the glans, something he might not thank you for in later life. Some people seem to think that this decrease will lead to lower sexual pleasure.

Well, yes, except that such a decrease will in fact lead to sex taking longer. This is normally though of as an increase in pleasure and happiness, not a decrease.

So it could be that the major argument used against circumcision is in fact one in its favour.

Human Sacrifice

Yes, it still happens out there in odd corners of the world:

Riot police have been sent to a remote mountainous village in Papua New Guinea after a gun battle between police and members of a cult involved in human sacrifices, local media reported Wednesday.

The National newspaper said several people were killed and many injured in the fighting last week in the Finschhafen area of Morobe province, 350 km (220 miles) north of the capital, Port Moresby.

Black magic is widespread in Papua New Guinea, a jungle-clad, mountainous South Pacific island nation where some villages only encountered Western civilization in the 1930s. Women suspected of being witches are often hanged or burnt to death.

Police who flew to the area Sunday said they believed they were dealing with a cult movement involved in murders and human sacrifices to their gods, the newspaper said.

The Highlands of Papua were thought to be empty until the first planes flew over them in the 1930s. Real Stone Age stuff up there then.

Nice Ringtones Site

"Ringtones are undoubtedly one of the most popular features that somebody can download from the net. While searching for Ringtones I found a very cool site. GoldRingtone.com is the best site to download free ringtones without restrictions. The information mail I received from the site says that the database is enriched with new ringtones every week. I decided to test it and download some ringtones (Rihanna’s Unfaithull is cool) and it works just fine.

I have to notice that the site offers free free MP3 Ringtones, Real Tones, Midi Ringtones. Every carrier is available. Get free Cingular Ringtones and free Sprint Ringtones.

Besides the site has an informative blog for mobile phones and a page dedicated to the famous Mosquito Ringtones. Do you know what a mosquito ringtone is? It is the new, cool weapon that children use in order to receive a call or an sms without being noticeable from the adults. This is due to the fact that the adults can’t hear some high frequency sounds.

Well, I suppose that Goldringtone is the ideal site for someone who wants to download one or more free ringtones, easily.

Harry Potter and Emma Watson

Looks like Emma Watson has decided not to sign up for the last two Harry Potter movies:

Emma Watson has decided not to sign up for the final two Harry Potter movies, according to a report in the News of the World today.
The actress, who plays Hermione Granger in the films, has told producers that she wants to try other roles and turned down a new £2 million-per-movie offer.
Watson's co-star Rupert Grint, better known as Ron Weasley, admitted that he and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) no longer speak to the 16-year-old.
"Emma doesn't want to do it any more," Rupert explained. "She's tired of being known as ‘that girl from Harry Potter'. Daniel and I are distant from her now. We don't text or talk to her when we are not filming."
The newspaper claims that it has received confirmation from Warner Brothers that Emma has not signed up for the final films.

Turning down £ 4 million at the age of 16? Ludicrous. I'd say her agent is playing a game here.

It's An Ill Wind

That does no one any good when it blows. The slow motion train wreck in the US housing market is providing lots of business for foreclosure brokers:

Massachusetts (Reuters) - The red Victorian home on Maple Street has a wounded, abandoned look: trash litters the yard, the pool has frozen over, old clothes are strewn across dirty floors. Renovations are half-done.

On a window hangs a "for sale" sign posted by a broker who specializes in foreclosures, which have hit record levels in Massachusetts and surged nationwide after a housing slowdown that put millions of "subprime" borrowers -- those with poor credit records who pay higher interest -- at risk of default.

"This is normally the way we get them. Totally beaten up," said Marc Charney, president of CharneyRealEstate.com, as workers cleared debris and prepared the 2,180-sq-ft (203 sq meter), 10-room home in Northborough, Massachusetts for sale.

"There's a real pattern that you're seeing with people who are foreclosed. They over-leverage themselves by getting an interest only-loan or some sort of an adjustable rate mortgage. They take that money and plan an addition on the house.

"They start the addition but then realize they want to buy a car, or a sister needs money or something like that. So the work is half done. But you're out of money and lose your job, or you get divorced and can't make payments," he said.

"This is a dirtier side of the business because you're trafficking in despair and loss."

Sad, yes, but it's important that all of these things are done quickly. Far better that the loss is crystalised, taken, and the asset moved on to someone else who can make use of it. Harsh but true.

OJ Simpson and his Money

Looks lioke people are still going after OJ Simpson and his money.

Attorneys for the father of murder victim Ron Goldman subpoenaed several Hollywood industry groups on Monday, seeking money O.J. Simpson was paid for TV appearances and work in such movies as "Naked Gun 33 and 1/3" and "The Towering Inferno."

Lawyers for Fred Goldman believe that Simpson has diverted the residual payments to avoid a $33.5 million judgment won in 1997 by the families of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

"We're going to burrow to the center of the earth to find Simpson's assets," Goldman lawyer David Cook said. "These subpoenas today seek to uncover and unearth Simpson's catalog or portfolio of movie residuals."

The former football star turned actor and TV pitchman was acquitted of the June 12, 1994, murders but a civil court jury found him liable for their deaths and ordered him to pay the $33.5 million in damages.

Simpson has paid little of that judgment but in recent months lawyers for Goldman have aggressively pursued his film and TV earnings as well as a reported $1 million advance he was paid for an aborted book about the murders, "If I Did It."

The subpoenas demand records kept by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), the Producers Guild of America and the American Federation of Television Radio Artists (AFTRA), which Goldman's lawyers believe will show how much Simpson has been paid and where the money has gone.

Perhaps this is all going just a little bit far? After all, he was founbd not guilty in court, was he not?

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller tells the newspapers that "I was just faking it".

It become a Don't Look Now phenomenon on the web.

But Sienna Miller's management has injected a dose of reality into heated reports that she and her Factory Girl co-star Hayden Christensen had actual, not virtual, sex while filming a love scene for the movie, telling the New York Post: "It's not true at all."

"When you do a love scene, there are five or six people on the set at a minimum," she said.

Her management says the scene was so realistic because Sienna is "just a great actress."

Well, "great" might be stretching the language a little too far but yews, she is an acctress. Faking it is what she's (over) paid to do. Amaxzing that she actually does so, don't you think?

The Strap Police

You might not believe this but someone has set up The Strap Police. The aim is to out and shame those women with unsightly or dirty bra straps that peek into public.

As Oscar season gets underway, followers of fashion are being urged to monitor celebrities on the red carpet and report any out-of-place bra straps to the Strap Police.

With bra straps transformed from a practicality into a hot fashion item, one Web site has set up a name-and-shame service to out celebrities and other women suffering from "ugly bra strap syndrome."

Margarita Reis, who runs bra company Margarita Couture, said the growing range of bra straps -- from clear plastic to colored, encrusted with Swarovski crystals or decorated with flowers -- meant there was no excuse for women to let worn or discolored bra straps slip into public view.

She has set up the Strap Police on her Web site www.brastraps.com to help keep unsightly straps out of sight.

Now, here's a surprise for you. The woman who set up The Strap Police runs a company that sells...bra straps. You don't say!
